A Seeding brief is a product gifting collaboration. A brand sends you their product, and in exchange you post about it on your own channels. Seeding briefs support Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

They run a little differently from other briefs on Cohley, so here's what to expect.

Seeding briefs are product-only

You keep the product, and there's no cash payment for the post. If a brief asks you to purchase the product yourself, it will say so up front, and your reimbursement is handled inside the brief.

If you're weighing whether a brief is worth your time, the product is the compensation — so make sure it's something you actually want and would post about.

Applying

You apply the same way you would to any other brief.

  • You may get a few quick questions first. Seeding briefs potentially have more questions to ask first versus other brief types that simply ask one question. You can leave without answering and come back to the brief later — but if you answer in a way that doesn't match what the brand needs, the brief closes to you.

Your dates

Your brief card shows the one date that matters next, and it changes as you move through the brief:

  • Apply by — the last day to apply.
  • Accepted by — the day after the apply-by date, when you'll find out if you're in.
  • Post window — the timeframe when your post should go live.

There's no separate "content due" date on a Seeding brief. Your deadline is the end of the post window, so give yourself enough time to upload, get your content checked, and post before it closes.

Getting your content approved

This is the biggest difference in a Seeding brief. Upload your content under My Content, and it's checked against the brand's requirements by AI Asset Analysis.

  • There are no change requests. The brand won't send you notes or ask for tweaks. Your content either meets every requirement or it doesn't.
  • If something is flagged, you'll get an email listing exactly which requirements weren't met. Fix those and upload again — there's no limit on trying again while the post window is open.
  • Once it passes, you'll get an email letting you know you're cleared to post. Don't post before then.

Because there's no manual review step, read the brand's requirements closely before you shoot. They're listed in the brief, and they're what your content gets measured against. See AI Asset Analysis for how the check works and what the badges on your content mean.

Posting and wrapping up

Once you're cleared, post within the post window and link your post in the brief. That's what moves you to Completed.

Your accepted content is also added to your Cohley Work with a Seeding badge, so other brands browsing for creators can see it as part of your history.

Emails you'll get

Seeding briefs use the same automated emails as other briefs: when you're accepted, if your content is flagged, when you're cleared to post, reminders if you haven't posted yet, and confirmation of any reimbursement. You can manage which emails you receive in your notification settings.
